Program Leader

This listing is for part-time positions at both Happy Day Play locations, Mid-Island and South Shore in Staten Island, NY. This position offers a competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and facilitate interactive and engaging regular educational meet ups for caregivers and their children aged 0 to 5.

  • Utilize effective communication skills to facilitate natural group discussions and offer guidance on parenting techniques and best practices, while building a sense of community among parents, encouraging collaboration and the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

  • Guide and support parents in understanding their child’s various developmental milestones, offering general strategies and techniques to enhance their child’s growth and family involvement in achieving these goals.

  • Create a safe and nurturing space where parents feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, questions, and concerns about parenting and child development.

  • Ensure program quality and adherence to set standards through our regular assessments and evaluations, collaborating with other program leaders to ensure consistent and coordinated delivery of program content.

  • Collaborate with curriculum developers to enhance and refine program content, related social media content and more as needed.

  • Stay updated with the latest research and trends in early childhood education, naturally incorporating innovative practices into the program.

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and participant feedback.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for effectively engaging with children, parents, and other staff. Your ability to convey information clearly and compassionately ensures meaningful interactions and effective collaboration.

  • Previous experience in working with children ages 0 to 5. This essential for understanding their unique developmental needs, abilities, and characteristics. This experience may have been gained through employment in early childhood education centers, preschools, daycares, at-home environments or similar settings. We will consider a combination of education, experience, and relevant certifications when evaluating candidates for positions!

  • Have a proven track record of effectively engaging and interacting with young children and their families, fostering their growth, and creating a positive learning environment. This experience should encompass facilitating age-appropriate activities, promoting social-emotional development, and supporting early learning experiences.

  • Possess the ability to establish a rapport with young children and their families in real-time, building trust, and creating a nurturing and supportive relationship. Experience in addressing the unique needs and challenges that arise in this age group, such as language development, motor skills development, and socialization, is beneficial.

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred, but not required (e.g. Psychology, Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Family Studies, Human Development, Communications, etc.)
