About Kaitlynn Blyth
Owner and Founder, Happy Day Play, Inc.
Background and Expertise
After more than a decade translating childhood development research into trusted guidance for millions of families worldwide, Kaitlynn Blyth founded Happy Day Play, Inc. to bring that same rigor into real-world family experiences.
Kaitlynn is the owner, founder, and CEO of Happy Day Play, Inc., a modern family education and childhood development company grounded in research, intentional design, and high standards. A Family Life Educator and member of by National Council on Family Relations, she has built her career at the intersection of family science, communication, and experiential learning.
A Foundation Built at the Largest Scale in the Field
Before launching Happy Day Play, Kaitlynn led organic content strategy for the digital arm of What to Expect, the world's leading pregnancy and parenting brand. In that role, she helped shape evidence-based guidance relied upon by millions of parents and collaborated closely with editorial leaders, researchers, and medical review boards to ensure accuracy, clarity, and integrity at scale.
The reach was substantial. WhatToExpect.com served 12.3 million monthly unique users. The What to Expect mobile application logged 24 million monthly sessions. The What to Expect team received a Webby Award along with multiple additional honors recognizing journalism and user experience excellence in service of families during pregnancy and early parenthood. In 2021, Kaitlynn represented the brand's parent company at the Nasdaq opening bell ceremony, marking a milestone for J2 Global, now Ziff Davis, and the Everyday Health Group, which owns What to Expect.
That foundation defines the standard she applies today.
The Family Life Education Framework
Kaitlynn pairs her editorial and content background with Family Life Education, an academic discipline structured around the family as the unit of learning. Family Life Education is governed by the National Council on Family Relations and is organized around ten content areas spanning human growth and development across the lifespan, internal dynamics of families, parent education and guidance, interpersonal relationships, family law and public policy, and more. Family Life Education is a recognized national standard for professional practice in the field and requires nearly 5,000 hours of documented work experience for applicants holding a non-family-specific bachelor's degree.
This framework informs the signature approach of Happy Day Play. Every Grown-Up & Me class and event is developmentally aligned and intentionally structured, designed with the cohesion and immersion of a carefully produced educational experience. The same thoughtful execution extends to school visits, birthday programming, curriculum development consulting, product recommendations, and family destination reviews.
Mother of Two
Kaitlynn is the mother of two young children. The developmental principles guiding Happy Day Play are the same principles she applies daily in her own home. Her work reflects both professional training and lived experience.
A Company Built on Demand From Day One
When Happy Day Play, Inc. launched in 2023, the response was immediate. Within one week, the company secured a national partnership. By September 2023, in-person programming had launched at the JCC of Staten Island, an institution with more than 90 years of community history. As programming expanded, Happy Day Play was selected as the leading Grown-Up & Me provider for the acclaimed Babies R Us flagship store's learning center at American Dream in New Jersey, reflecting institutional trust and alignment with a nationally recognized and widely trusted family brand. The company has since produced sponsored events at the flagship Toys R Us location at American Dream and hosted brand celebration events for partners including Hoopla Family App, an international family wellness platform featured on Netflix.
Today, Happy Day Play has welcomed thousands of families through its classes, signature events, and community programs, while its digital platform continues to reach families nationally and internationally.
