ABOUT THIS CLASS
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Embark on a journey of family fun and connection with our mixed-aged open play class, thoughtfully designed for families with at least one child aged 0 to 5 and all the wonderful family members who support them. This inclusive and dynamic class invites you to dive into a world of play, exploration, and shared joy, strengthening the bonds within your family.
We create an environment where each family member, from the tiniest to the tallest, can engage in playful exploration. Our activities are crafted to meet the developmental needs of children aged 0 to 5, fostering wonder and creativity for the littlest member of your family.
Guided by experienced facilitators, this class provides a blend of loosely structured and open-ended activities that cater to the diverse needs of everyone. Our aim is to create an environment where every family member feels valued and can actively contribute to the joyous mosaic of family life. At Happy Day Play, we believe exploration fosters independence skills and are a no-pressure participation class. We firmly believe a child-led structure is what supports development best alongside a trusted family member or caregiver to model and participate.
Understanding that early childhood development is a shared adventure, our class involves parents and caregivers as equal partners in activities. Through shared triumphs and supportive networks, families become integral contributors to the growth that unfolds in each session, fostering a sense of community and empowerment. Facilitated by an experienced program leader and assistant, and curriculum guided by Family Life Education (FLE) principles, our class weaves expert guidance into each interaction. From observing your child's cues to adapting activities for individual needs, we empower parents to play an active role in their child's developmental journey and foster family dynamics that support their little one’s current stage of life.
PRIMARY DEVELOPMENTAL FOCUS OF THIS CLASS:

Engage in activities promoting the development of fine and gross motor skills for the little ones, alongside opportunities for physical play for older siblings and family members.

Explore cognitive play stations designed to challenge and stimulate young minds, providing an enjoyable learning experience for children and sparking engaging discussions for parents and caregivers.

Cherish moments of connection between generations as grandparents, parents, and siblings come together in a shared space. Strengthen family bonds through laughter, shared discoveries, and the joy of collective play.

Happy Day Play at JCC Bernikow (Grown Up and Me Program)

ROOM LOCATION: This class takes place in the 2nd floor Gym. Upon entering the front entrance of JCC Bernikow, keep to the left. Take the stairs or elevator up to the 2nd floor and walk directly to the back. There will be a sign for the 2nd floor Gym.
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU GET THERE
When you arrive, please go to the front desk and tell the JCC member that you have arrived for a Happy Day Play class. They will direct you to the room.
Upon entry, please present your confirmation to a Happy Day Play staff member. If you have not registered, you can do so at the start of class by scanning the QR code and registering online.
For play and music classes, please remove shoes and leave on socks. Strollers are permitted but must stay parked outside the classroom. If your baby needs to be nursed or have a bottle, we encourage you to do so to keep them comfortable. All other items with the exception of light blankets and pacifiers should be left with your personal belongings. Your personal belongings will remain visible to you the entire duration of class.
